The study is carried out to assess the present and the future solid waste management systems and improve option in transportation system through introduction of a new transfer station in Tainan City. The results of this study show that present treatment method, sanitary landfill site , is the most expensive. The dominant factor of the system cost is land cost. Incineration is cheaper than landfill when l and cost is high. Finally, recommendations are made for closing the present landfill site at Nansalern and replaced it by Chenseelee landfill site, constructing a new landfill site near Chenseelee if land can be made available, beginning to plan another incineration plant, and building a transfer station to save the system cost .
