Hence growing emphasis is being laid on the assessment of the capabilities of a company and their potential for offering competitive advantage to the company that can be sustained over the years. In this research study technological capability assessment has been done for assessing the potential of the Telephone Organization of Thailand in Internet Protocol Telephony Services. The point that deserves special attention here is that the model does not attempt to measure the firm capabilities on an absolute basis; rather it has been designed to assess firm's capabilities with respect to its competitor, Telecomasia Corporation. This relative assessment can provide useful insights into the competitive advantage creation potentials of the firm's capabilities. Finally, the study can be utilized by TOT's management as inputs for planning, diversification, divestment, mergers and acquisition, and technology transfer.
