When the blood bank receives an order, blood will be stored in the cool-room and distributed to patients. After passing the lifetime, the packed red cells are outdated and discharge from the inventory. A continuous review inventory system is applied for this case. We applied the Weiss model (1980) to solve for the amount of order and the reorder point for each type of blood. The Poisson distribution of demand is used in this model. The lost sales are allowed. To find the reorder point and amount of order, we developed a program by visual C++. Based on the results of the reorder point and amount of order, we developed a blood inventory system with user interface.
