The control energy, the maximum control energy rate and t he maximum strain energy are compared in order to evaluate the control performance for free vibration. It is found that the control performance depends on the actuator location and the mode shape . The control performance for the excitation is discussed. The effectiveness of the control for the forced vibration is shown . One of the passive controllers, the oil damper is compared. The active wave control presents better performance than the oil damper. The efficiency of the control for the self-excited vibration i s also shown, although the wave equation changes and the control law does not hold in the case of self-excitation. It is suggested from all the results that the active control is feasible for cable vibration in cable-stayed bridge.
