Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1984 Summary: This study was conducted to investigate the theoretical performance of ENAG windmill for generating electricity to charge the batteries. From the rotor measurements, the approximate profile was chosen. The aerodynamic characteristic was taken into account with the varying chords and angles of the blade, a maximum power coefficient (Cp) of 0.31 at a tip speed ratio ({u262E}) of 7 has been estimated. In a separate test made for the generator, the model of the generator was found, the theoretical efficiency was calculated to be maximum of 59 percent at 258 rpm for 12 v and 59 percent at 367 rpm for 24 v battery loading. The maximum overall efficiency (compare with ideal windrotor) of the windmill is 30 percent for both 12 and 24 v. For 12 v, it is obtained at windspeed of 5 m/s and a tip speed ratio of 7. For 24 v, it is obtained at windspeed of 7 to 9 m/s and tip speed ratio of 7.
