The factor of primary interest which must be known in theoretical analysis is the shear modulus of the roil. For this purpose cross-hole shooting was carried out near the turbine foundation in order to determine the in-situ shear wave velocity as a function of depth. The measurements showed that the vibration of the turbine foundation is very complex. It consisted of flexural vibration of the beams and torsional vibration of the upper slab associated with horizontal vibration. The measured amplitude of vibration compared with the predicted value gave a fairly good agreement. However, it was found that the natural frequencies of the system could not be found accurately.
