By: Call Number: AIT Thesis no. CA-85-11 Contributor(s): Material type: TextSeries: Asian Institute of Technology. Thesis ; no. CA-85-11Publication details: Bangkok : Asian Institute of Technology, 1985Description: 49 pSubject(s): Online resources: Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1985 Summary: The development of a machine translation system is one of the most difficult computational tasks; without a deep semantic analysis of both source and target languages, an machine translation system cannot generate satisfactory results. The purpose of this study is to develop an English-Thai machine translation system based on the Integral Method in which semantic analysis, using an active dictionary, plays a major role. The system constructs a semantic representation for one specific area of natural language (a mathematics text) by using preference semantics. One of the unique features of the proposed system is that it implements the English-Thai machine translator on a microcomputer; PROLOG is used as the programming language.
