In this study the author will show the results of data collection during period of February to April 1997. The surveys were at nine substations in four regions in general (region-I, region-2, region-4 and region-5), especially in region-3 in details. This region is fed from Thanaleng substation (s/s No 6), and comprises three feeders called MSS 6-1, MSS 6-2 and MSS 6-3. MSS 6-1 is radial feeder and distributes electricity to 28 villages in the south east of Vientiane (VTE) town. MSS 6-2 and MSS 6-3 are connected with MSS 1-3 and MSS 1-2 in VTE town (Sokpalouang s/s No 1) In the region-3 the study has calculated voltage drop, line losses of 22 and 0.4 kV in a sample of distribution feeders. The data collected include the network details like line length, size of conductor, transformer details include percentage impedance, peak loads observed on the distribution transformers, substation, energy consumption, and energy dispatched from substation etc. Finally, there are recommendations for rehabilitation of Distribution Network in Vientiane (Lao PDR).
