Analysis of circular pile caps

By: Call Number: AIT Thesis no. 555 Contributor(s): Material type: TextSeries: Asian Institute of Technology. Thesis ; no. 555Publication details: Bangkok : Asian Institute of Technology, 1973Description: 26 pSubject(s): Online resources: Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1973 Summary: The research described in this paper is an extension of an earlier work done by BERNARDO (1972). The experimental ultimate loads of reinforced concrete pile caps are compared with those predicted by a simple analysis based on truss analogy. Six specimens, consisting of two one half scale models of rectangular two-pile caps and four one-quarter scale models consisting of two circular six-pile caps and two circular eight pile caps were constructed and tested to destruction. Test results indicated that good predictions of the ultimate loads of these pile caps can be obtained by truss analogy. The ultimate loads were found to coincide with the yield point stress of the steel.
