Sc.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1984 Summary: Investigations have been carried out upon modifications of an existing Re-versed Flat Plate Collector & System and their performances were analysed. The man modification consisted of providing two transparent glass covers above, the absorbing plate and two glass covers underneath. Outdoor tests were conducted tor two types of reflectors, stainless steel and a polyester film (SIRIUS) . System efficiency test was performed with both types of reflectors. The outdoor collector test was conduced as per. ASHRAE STANDARDS on collector having the polyester film reflector. A mathematical model has been used to predict daily system efficiency. The simulated system efficiency results were found to be in good agreement with the experimental results. A high correlation resulted between system efficiency and the proposed load-temperature parameter. A significant improvement was obtained over the results found using single glass cover underneath the absorber. Also it was confirmed that the system efficiency vastly improved when a good reflecting foil us used.
