Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1980 Summary: This study was aimed at investigating the changes in travel time to the city center of Bangkok for passenger cars during the morning peak period, particularly after the change which resulted from the computerization of traffic signals. The changes in accessibility of the different zones due to the above mentioned changes were also studied. Changes in travel time were observed. The largest relative values being for short passenger car trips, while the larger trips to the city center were relatively less affected. Similarly, changes in accessibility were observed. The largest improvements were for the zones closest to the ATC (Area Traffic Control) area. These zones were already those with the highest accessibility values. It was concluded that the effects of the ATC have been not only to improve accessibility but to widen the gap between the least accessible and most accessible zones in the study area.
