City population, GNP per capita, and their product were used as the traffic generating factor in the gravity model. The product of city population and GNP per capita, which gave the highest coefficient of correlation in the gravity model, was used as the subtended volume in the opportunity model. Three forms of impedance factor employed in the models were: travel cost, distance, and travel time. The data were obtained from the passenger manifests recorded by all airlines which served Bangkok; a 20-percent sample taken from a period of one year was the basic data.
