A linear programming model is then formulated to schedule of generating units with the objective of minimizing the fuel cost. Constraints of the model include the maximum and minimum capacities of each unit, load fluctuation rate, amount of water available for hydroelectric generation. The applicability of the model is illustrated by applying it to the system operated by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and the results have been compared with those of existing model based on nonlinear optimization technique presently in use by EGAT.
