This research studied the use in asphaltic concrete of gravels and natural sand from Northeastern Thailand. Two types of gravels, crusher run and pit-run were mixed in simple proportions with a pit-run natural sand. Using a penetration grade asphalt, samples were made and tested using the Marshall procedure. It is shown that satisfactory mixes could be made to meet the Marshall design criteria with crushed gravel and half crushed and half natural gravels. Mixes using only natural gravels met nearly all the criteria and would be worth laying experimentally on a lightly trafficked road. The mixes were compared by workability tests.
