In modern societ y, the seismic resistant design of structure targeting life safet y and control the severit y of damage in small or moderate earthquake are not enough. The new era design should resist a major level of earthquake without collapse but possibl y with some structural and nonstructural damage. To meet this target, the structure should have enough ductilit y capacit y to perform under inelastic range. In monolithic ductile connections, inelastic formation has been inevitabl y damage to structure. Later, alternative economical high-performance low-damage s ystem which is known as hybrid s ystem was developed. In this system post-tension tendon is used together with mildsteeltherefore post-tension tendon provide self-centering action and mild steel provideener g y dissipation action. The general concept of a post-tensioned rocking s ystem is to activate a 2controlled rocking3 motion between two structural members (beam-column, column-foundation or wall-foundation). The energy dissipating devices can be mainly used as two t ypes: internal dissipaters or external dissipatersin rocking s ystem. In this experiment, cam-grip energy dissipating device was used as external energy dissipatersin h ybrid structural wooden wall test. Cam-grip energy dissipating device applies friction-gripping technique. Friction coefficient(the ratio of vertical to horizontal force)between cams and steel core is important in CFDand it is set as 0.2 to prevent an y slippage between cams and steel core.As CFD device resistsno compression force, no uplift force will be applied to the wall. Therefore, unlike other energy dissipating device, the CFD device alwa ys provide full self-centering behavior to the rocking wall system.
