This research intends to eva luate the effectiveness of rumble strips on two-lane rural highway. There are two standards types that are used, the Department of Rural Highway's standard configuration and the Singapore's standard configuration. The ruble strips were installed on the asphaltic pavement surface by using thermoplastic paint. The evaluation was focused on the individual driving perf01mance behavior along the specified road such as travel speed and roadside noise. Before-and-after installation of rumble strips were examined along the three selected study locations consisted of approaching to an intersection and along the road curves. Results of the findings revealed that installing the Singapore's standard configuration, the rumble strips significantly reduced the mean speed and 851 h percentile speed profile, while the problem of the roadside noise was affected after installing the rumble strips. For the Department of Rural Highway's standard configuration, the installation of rumble strips commonly did not reduce the speeds of road users along the collected stations. Whereas, the problem of the roadside noise evidently increased while installing the rumble strips.
