The mathematical model used for determining the spray characteristics was developed in this study, R = 0.3158M/0.186370 where R = mass ratio (mass of drop/mass of pellet) and M = mass of pellet. Its application is limited and confined to the flour characteristics employed in the experiments. The experimental results reveals that the suspended solids have no significant effect on the stripping efficiency. Inversely, the mass trans- fer operation depends mainly on temperature, stripping time, and spray cha- racteristics. An increase in the number of spray cycle significantly upgrades the system efficiency. In comparing the two commercial type nozzles, it was found that the one with higher degree of atomization (smaller orifice size) has higher NH3 stripping efficiency than the other with a lower degree of atomization (higher orifice size).
