Resources and potentials of a specific settlement site has been investigated With the t-(Se of a land suitability study and socioeconomic profiling of settlers. The settlement site is situated within an area designated for reforestation and therefore settlers face not only the constraints brought about by the physical environment but also by the legal implications as well . Some portions of land under reforestation has been found to be suitable for growing agricultural crops. However the current land use of the old settllers is not positive, evidenced by their I Oh/ return of i Potentials for occupational development is brought about by the settlers willingness to change occupation and to take care of their own well being. Settlers has also pointed out possible sources for earning in the settlement The reforestation project currently in operation has also offered means of offfarm employment in a limited basis Recommendation for planning include a rep1anned scheme for the reforestation project in their aim to develop upland forest areas.
