| Summary, etc. | Cluster-based Call Admission Control (CAC) has been proposed to handle the new voice calls and handoff call requests in mobile networks by using two levels of admission control, cluster level and cell level admission. However, it is not designed especially for more practical system having multi-services traffic and pico-cell network structure. This thesis proposes adaptive cluster-based CAC for pico-cellular mobile multi-services network. Several levels of priority are assigned to each mobile user by its combination of services and mobile speed in order to satisfy the acceptable performances. System performance is investigated in terms of new call blocking probability, handoff call blocking probability and bandwidth utilization by simulation. When traffic load increases, both new arrival rate and handoff rate increase. The handoff call blocking probability of slow wideband calls slightly exceed the determined value because of lower priority compared to the fast wideband calls. When number of slow mobiles is increased, the new call arrival rate hardly changes but handoff rate decreases due to the On-Off behavior of slow users, also the bandwidth utilization in each cell increases because slow mobiles reside in cell longer than fast mobiles, thus the bandwidth is more occupied. The simulation result shows that proposed CAC efficiently control the handoff call blocking probability of both homogeneous and non-homogeneous load condition to the pre-determined values. |
