Summary, etc. This thesis analyzes the change in C02 emission from energy sector in Bangkok during 2004-2009 to understand what are the factors effecting the change in C02 emission in Bangkok. In addition, this thesis forecasts C02 emission from energy sector in Bangkok during 2010-2035 based on business-as-usual scenario and suggests policy options to mitigate C02 emission by 15% from the BAU scenario in 2035. The Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index Decomposition (LMDI) is used to analyze the change in C02 emission, while the Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning System (LEAP) is used to forecast C02 emission. Given the close linkage between final energy consumption and C02 emission, this thesis also includes final energy consumption as part of the analysis. The analysis on time-series statistics during 2004-2009 confirms that C02 emission has close linkage with final energy consumption, which has been dominated by petroleum products, electricity, natural gas and coal respectively. The change in aggregate C02 emission has been mainly attributed to the change in level of energy consumption, with increasing role from the changes in energy mix and C02 intensity. The forecast on C02 emission during 2010-2035 by LEAP is based on four economic sectors; residential, industrial, transport and commercial sectors. Under business-as-usual scenario where there is no additional intervention on mitigation policy, C02 emission in 2035 would be almost twice of C02 emission in 2010. Eleven C02 mitigation measures are proposed under the mitigation policy scenario comprising of eight measures to reduce final energy consumption and three measures to switch fuel. Under the mitigation policy scenario, C02 emission in Bangkok would be reduced by 15.2% from business-as-usual scenario in 2035 in accordance with objective of the study.
