Summary, etc. Depletion of major oil and gas field is inevitable in the near future and there is a lot of undeveloped marginal offshore oil & gas field scattered around the Gulf of Thailand especially for the Southern part; thus, the opportunity to use minimum structures on Thailand's offshore oil and gas production is widely open. However, knowledge of the structural performance is required before making any investment decision particularly for costly offshore construction. Dynamic responses of free standing monopod and braced caisson under extreme and service wave condition in the Southern Gulf of Thailand are investigated. Wave parameters are generated from wave height record of Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) measured from 1993 to 1995 at the water depth range from 17 to 55 m. Over 200 cases are investigated by varying water depth (20, 25 and 30 m.), topside pay load (800, 1200 and 1600 kN), caisson outside diameter (1.2-2.8 m.) and wall thickness (25, 38 and 50 rom.). Results of this study show there is an opportunity to develop marginal offshore oil & gas field in the Southern Gulf of Thailand using both free standing monopod and braced caisson, however the structural system with natural period less than 2 seconds in 20 m. water depth seems to be a boundary of free standing monopod in order to satisfy the vibration requirement of HSE for offshore installation. Comparing dynamic response, braced caisson is better than free standing monopod. Shorter free span can help limit dynamic amplification factor to be less than 1.5 and topside acceleration to be less than 5 cm./sec.² which meet the vibration requirement for offshore installation.
