Summary, etc. The presence of algal metabolite in surface water does not only create many problems on coagulation and flocculation processes but creates the health-related problem also since alga metabolite act as the trihalomethane precursors. Beside, it can produce taste and odor in drinking water. It is known that the trihalomethane precursor and producing taste and odor metabolite can not be removed completely by conventional drinking water process. Using advanced oxidation processes (AOP) to remove algal metabolite has become more popular since hydroxy radical which has very high oxidation potential can be created from the advanced oxidation processes. This research study the capacity of hydrogen peroxide, ozone, and combined ozone and hydrogen peroxide, peroxone, to mineralize the algal metabolite in surface water and investigates the pH, ozone dose, mass ratio of Hi02/03 for removal alga metabolite which is determined in term of removal of total organic carbon (TOC). The % molecular weight distribution (MWD) in oxidized alga metabolite is also analyzed. The result reveals that pH is the main parameter which affect to the TOC removal efficiency. For using Hi02, the optimum pH is 5-6. For ozonation, the optimum pH is 9. The best pH for the best oxidation capacity of peroxone is pH 7 and the optimum mass ratio of Hi02/03 is 0.4 mg Hi02/ mg. 0 3. For Hi02, it can remove TOC maximum only 15% within 10 min. when 1.44mg H20 2/ mg. TOC is used to treat AOM solution. Using 1.25 mg 0 3 I mg TOC can remove TOC 15% within 20 min. at optimum ·pH and using 1.8 mg 03 I mg. TOC can remove TOC up to 20% within 10 min and 30% within 20 min. Peroxone is the best for TOC removal. TOC can be removed 50%, 70%, 80%, and 90% within 5, 10, 20, and 30 min. subsequently at the optimum pH and treat with 0.72 mg. Hi0 2 (per mg. TOC) I 1.8 mg. 0 3 (per mg. TOC) (0.4mg. H20 2 I mg. 0 3) which is the optimum ratio.
