520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. In modeling travel demand and analyzing travel behavior, it is important to know the behavior of a large number of individuals. How the individuals choose an alternative among others given in the choice set, and how they assess and consider the different alternatives, must be a function of several factors including their need, task, socio-economic, environmental and the level of service offered by the various alternatives. Many transportation studies have been conducted in big cities, while in middle sized cities no sufficient studies have been done. In this study, Manado city, capital of North Sulawesi province in Indonesia, was chosen as the study area. Manado has a population of 320,830 inhabitants and 70,273 households. A qualitative analysis of travel behavior was done with a number of individuals as the samples. Further, the travel demand modeling also has been developed the trip generation and attraction analysis, and trip distribution analysis. To provide the required data, a field survey of direct home interview survey and travel time survey was conducted and given a number of 982 households and 2797 respondents obtained as the samples . Meanwhile, the socio-economic data is obtained directly from the institution concerned . In modeling travel demand, 17 basic models of linear regression was developed for the trip generation and 15 linear regression models for ·trip attraction. By applying the Gravity Model and the Fratar Method, the trip distribution model has been developed. There are 12 models have been introduced by using travel time, road distance and straight distance as the resistance index. To analyze the difference in term of travel behavioT, the results from this study then were compared to the results of several transportation studies conducted in other cities in Indonesia.
