520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The 3G evolution has made possible high speed data access, real time applications in the wireless domain along with voice services. More and more service providers are keen on providing cost effective solutions for higher data-rates to their customers. This makes 3G a better option to them which is just an add-on to their existing 2.5G network infrastructure. But in order to make a cost effective move, so that maximum profitability can be made with utmost customer satisfaction, planning forms an important aspect of the process. Planning, in terms of capacity, needs to be done at the very first stage to get an overall estimate of roll-out expenditure of network up gradation, with certain service levels, unique to various types of different services offered by 3G. Customer density is analyzed for different services offered and simulated with target service quality to get an estimate of the capacity needed to provide that service. In brief, planning can be compiled into a series of steps as follows: - Analyze traffic density of different service class. - Analyze Quality of Service (QoS) requirements for different service classes. - Determine capacity based of estimated traffic with agreed QoS requirement. After network deployment and operations, planning is done to ensure SLA as decided by the vendor and operator. Thus, the main purpose of this study is to analyze the need to upgrade capacity with regard to blocking in WCDMA Radio Access Network. The counters and KPls specific to WCDMA RAN are studied and a framework is developed to detect and suggest capacity upgradation
