| Summary, etc. | The research is mainly purpose to investigate the contribution of Agroforestry to the food system of household in three study sites with three different road accessibilities in Kalaw Township, Shan State in Myanmar. Kalaw Township, famous pine hill resort, is now facing deforestation problem because of the extension of arable land to feed the needs of the increasing population. At the same time, Forest Department is establishing the reserved forest to reforest Kalaw Township. Twenty one percentage of arable land and twenty two percentage of reserved forest are covered in Kalaw Township. However, local people are encroaching their farm land into reserved forest. Therefore, Forest Department compromise with them and apply agroforestry system in the reserved forest as a reforestation program. In this research, the difference in detail patterns of agroforestry, problems of agroforestry application in the reserved forest, farmer's preference crop are observed in three study sites with different road accessibilities. Moreover, the contribution of Agroforestry products to food system either directly by self-sufficient crop or indirectly by providing cash to household was also investigated. The different frequency distribution in the three study area showed that the farther from the main road, the more income the group can earn. It is depend on the agroforestry intensification and the available of other job. Thee Kaung, a group next to main road, has the highest income froin non-agroforestry farm and lowest income from agroforestry with the lowest number of self-sufficient and cash crop in agroforestry. Aung Pan, located in medium distance far from main road, has medium income from agroforestry farm with the highest number of self-sufficient crop are found in the farm among there study sites. Wat Phyu Yay, the farthest distance group from main road among three study areas, has the highest income from agroforestry farm with a balance number of both self-sufficient and cash crop. |
