Summary, etc. In this paper, synchronization, droop control and Artificial Intelligent (AI) optimization methods using battery energy storage (BES) have been suggested to improve the performance of Mae Sariang microgrid (MG) system in Thailand. The existing MG consists of a low voltage distribution system, diesel generator, mini hydro generator and solar PV plant. The solar PV plant is connected to the MG through voltage source inverters (VSI) and step up transformers. The MG frequently isolates from the main grid and operates as islanding mode due to many faults, so reliability indices and power quality is very low. Then, installation of BES has been introduced to increase the MG's reliability and power quality issues. Synchronous controller is used in the solar PV plant and BES to minimize power imbalance between DG in MG. Droop controller is used to compensate reactive power from BES. Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm is used to optimize economic operation. ABC investigates benefit of operating as MG and considers outage cost of customers. Environmental impact analysis considers on greenhouse gas (GHG) emission from fossil fuel generators. Finally, the results are useful for efficient operation of the Mae Saring MG system and show benefits of MG operation in reliability, economic, and environmental aspects.
