Expert system for testing the autism spectrum disorder

The begins at childhood and affects human behaviors and skills such as verbal, communication, social interaction and imagination. ASD needs proper testing and treatment through social interactions otherwise it may cause mental disabilities and other physical problems. Autism is a serious issue for parents and family of individuals to care earlier before it becomes the cause for other not easily solving health problems. Different factors such as environmental, economic or other psychological factors affect the people to be victim of ASD particularly in developing and nondeveloping countries. The research study developed the rule based expert system to test the ASD in children. The expert system is a software program contains knowledge base, inference engine and user interface using web technology. The knowledge was acquired from the dataset which contained records of ASD and NON-ASD children by applying decision tree algorithms in WEKA data mining tool. The knowledge base is represented using decision tree and inference engine is based on the rules obtained from the knowledge. Finally, the system performance is tested with high satisfactory accuracy measure of 90%.
