The analysis of mean instantaneous sky luminance distribution patterns shows that the predominant sky conditions in this tropical climate are partly cloudy skies. The delineation of the distribution patterns by using this model are special in line with the actual situation. The new model is able to predict the actual sky luminance in Thailand better than the CIE standard for most of the time. The assessment of the CIE standard algorithms shows poor performance with comparison to the new model. The analysis of illuminance on any surface shows that in clear and partly cloudy skies, there is a strong fluctuation of illumination level for different orientations of the plane, but in no circumstances in overcast skies. The variation of illuminance on those planes towards same direction, on the other hand, are considerable for all sky conditions for different plane elevation angles.
