The basic equation is the equation of continuity with the assumptions that the river and tidal discharges flushing sediments out from the river-mouth and that the wave induced current bringing sediments into the river. The equation of continuity is reduced to a simplified equation to predict the change of width of the river-mouth width, by introducing two coefficients of sediment transport. One for the sediment transport due to discharges and the other due to wave induced currents. The value of the coefficients are determined so as to minimize the discrepancy between . measured and calculated results.
