Jute-fiber h ad retained more than 86 percent of influent suspended solids (SS) that increased the filter run of the sand bed. However, jute fiber release d TOC a nd tot al solids (TS) t o the filtrate that it resulted in l ow efficiencies in TOC an d TS removal. Coliform bacteria were removed significantly but Further dis infection was needed for drinking purpose. Also, removal of iron and manganese were highly efficient.
