In order to improve the selectivity and uniformity of CNTs, we have examined the growthof CNTs on aquartz substrate. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were fabricated by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) using a low vacuumprocess.Cobalt (Co) nanoparticles and molybdenum (Mo) sensitizerswere deposited as metal catalysts on quartz substratesby spray evaporation technique.Acetylene wasutilized asthe carbon feedstock and 5% H2/Ar was the carrier gas. The growth of CNTswas carried out at 650-750 °C for 30 minutes. In this work, optimum CNT synthesis conditions were determined for threereaction parametersnamely, concentration of catalyst solution, precursor flow rate,and reaction temperature. CNTsamples were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).
