The results showed that coupled consolidation using Biot's three-dimensional consolidation theory with modified cam-clay model incorporated in CRISP program successfully predicted the behaviour of clay foundation under embankment load. The result of linear elastic analysis in CRISP program showed that effective (drained) modulus of 60 times vane shear strength, successfully predicted the movement. Settlement analyses using the Terzaghi's method, Skempton & Bjerrum's method, Leroueil's method, Asaoka ' s curve fitting method and stress path methods were also included from the results of past studies for comparison. The stress path methods and Asaoka's method yielded good prediction while Leroueil's method overpredicted the measured values.
