Although it has been considered as a complicated phenomenon, wave pressure on sloping face dike has been generally recognized as a combined effect mainly caused by wave and structure Characteristics. The problem was studied through theory and experiment. A theoretical solution of two dimensional long waves on a sloping face dike of uniform slope is connected with that in water of constant depth, in order to yield the solution of standing wave pressure in front of a sloping face dike, wave motions are expressed in the Lagrangian description. The experiments was conducted by classifying the slope into five groups, and water depth into three cases. The period was devised from 1 .4 sec. to 2.2 sec. with 0.2 sec increment. The theoretical expression of the wave pressure on sloping face dike is obtained as follow: (you can see full text) The theoretical expression results are in good agreement with the experimental results. Although the pressure distribution was complicated on a very gentle slope, it was found that the theory agrees fairly well wi th the experiments. Some useful figures were prepared from theoretical computation for practical calculation of the relationship between wave pressure wave steepness and relative depth.
