(some col.), chartsSubject(s): Online resources: Dissertation note: Research studies project report (M. Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 2011 Summary: The water saturation (Sw) of a reservoir is the main target for the log analyst and the reservoir engineer. There are so many water saturation calculation models but no one can be universally used for all reservoir conditions. The present study aims at determining the most favorable and realistic water saturation models to be utilized in sandstone reservoir of Lower Miocene age in Block XY, Cuu Long basin. The wireline logging data, core analysis data and geological repots of 2 wells X and 1X are used to estimate shale content, porosity, water saturation by running the Interactive Petrophysics (IP) program. The obtained water saturation results have been subjected to a comparative study considering the petrophysical parameters. In shaly zones, the Indonesia model gives reasonable values of the water saturation, which can be correlated with the Simandoux, Dual water, Laminate shale, Archie model. Obtainable results have been confirmed from the data of the water and core analysis.
