There are two objectives of this study. First objective is to create the stingers optimization in term of stingers performance evaluations and stingers structural design under standard code design and regulation. Another objective is to create the option for concept selection in stingers design. The scoring approaches are applied to the stingers optimization to find out the suitable stingers structure for the crane capacity, wave height and tensioner capacity requirements. The stingers aspect ratio and stingers cross-section are the stingers structural arrangements which are developed to the design of stingers model. In addition, the stingers design parameters consisting of the outside diameter, wave height, stingers length, current velocity and material grade are considered into evaluation of fatigue life, evaluation of pipelay performance and evaluation of stingers stability. All of the stingers structural arrangements are introduced into the stingers optimization by scoring and created the option for concept selection. The solutions of the stingers structural arrangements show that Type 1 cross-section comes up with the maximal of the stingers weight and net buoyancy. In the evaluation of pipelay performance, only the increases of the stingers length have an effect with stingers performance. Nevertheless, the no. of case that stingers could be laid mostly will be controlled by the use of tensioner. In the evaluation of stingers stability, Type 1 cross-section comes up with the maximal of the tilting angle. In the fatigue life evaluation, the applied force and the joint can thickness were an important factor that controlled the stingers{u2019}s life. Finally, to be primary concept selection, there are 70 tables of stingers optimization depending on crane capacity, wave height and tensioner capacity.
