An effort has been made in this study to establish the information system required in management of irrigation unit at the tertiary level (water users group). A computerized database was developed for use on a microcomputer using a commercial database management system. A linear programming approach was used to optimize water allocation. The database system can replace the previous manual system for data recording and retrieval of information related to management of organization. Moreover, it also provides the necessary information regarding to the irrigation management aspects. The combination of database system and linear programming technique are made possible within the system. The optimal solution of crop and area allocation obtained from the system can be used as indicative results in preparation of preseason planning for irrigation and cropping pattern.
