ZIF-8 is one of the most versatile MOFs due to its high thermal and chemical stability. The in-situ conversion of ZIF-8 is preferred over ex-situ conversion due to lesser time and cost. The electro-deposition of Cobalt nanoparticles (NPs) on ZnO is quick and uniform when Sodium Citrate dibasic as complexing agent is used. Cobalt Nanoparticles has the property to oxidize to Glucose in basic medium. The property is enhanced in increased in higher concentration of NaOH. The reliability and the longevity of the converted sample is better than that of unconverted sample as the NPs are encapsulated by the ZIF 8. Furthermore, the current response of the converted sample is linear for the glucose level equivalent to the physiological condition. The linearity is higher for the case of Phosphate than in the case of Sodium Hydroxide. In addition, the electrode can also be used in 3D printed fluidic device but the current response in the device is limited as compared to without it. Overall, the substrate material developed by this process is a promising prospect in non-enzymatic glucose detection.
