Based on the test results obtained from an experimental program which had been conducted in Tohoku University, Japan, during the period of 1978 to 1980, a four coefficient Cubic Equation Load Deflection Model had been developed. It was found that this mathematical model can properly represent the load deflection relationship and equivalent viscous damping ratio obtained from experiments. A comparison between the experimental results and the results of the proposed Cubic Equation Model showed that the dynamic responses in both the elastic and inelastic range can be predicted very accurately.
