Development of a quality management information system for a construction project

Recently, the scope and size of construction projects have increased that making it is essential to consider the issue of quality control and also the topic of quality management. This would reduce accidents and wastes about the public works in Taiwan area. However, the lack of adequate manpower and facility affects the consequence of quality management. The Development of quality management information system(QMIS) is a promising way to overcome the complexity and increase the accuracy and efficiency of quality management of the construction projects through the quick access of database to all activities at field sites. The main purpose of this study is to develop a quality managemnt information system through personal computer based configuration and the software Microsoft ACCESS 7 .0 to solve the quality related problems and meet the requirements for the existing quality management activities in many of the construction sites of Bureau of Housing and Urban Development(BHUD). The analysis of existing situation , the design of customized model and the system implementation of QMIS are concentrated. Although the application QMIS is intended to be utilized in the particular construction sites of BHUD, it is general enough to be adopted for other similar class of agencies because the common works and procedures of construction were considered mainly.
