The test specimens used were bending failure governed cantilever type reinforced concrete beam-columns. The response of a single degree of freedom system subjected to triangulated wave base movements is analyzed with the cubic equation model and the other conventional model s such as the bi-linear, the tri-linear, Clough 's, and Takeda's models. The numerical results show that the cubic equation model is more realistic and practical than the other models mentioned above.
