It was observed that people engaged in scavenging the waste at the disposal sites had incomes ranging from 60 to 300 Baht per day. Most of them migrated from other provinces and had little formal education. Working in unhygienic conditions has had its toll on their health. It was further observed that traders of middlemen obtained very high profits. From the engineering point of view, seven case studies of paper, glass and plastic factories were conducted. Most of the manufactures operate using a simple processes. Use of virgin raw material in combination with reclaimed material provide the highest benefit to the manufacturer.
