This project has aimed to improve environmental awareness among people so that they can better manage their household waste and earn extra income by selling recyclable waste. The study revealed that a number of participants have followed the lessons learnt from the project. Although the increase of environmental awareness by participating in the project was found to be high among the participants, only a small number of them were found to practice the lessons learnt. Moreover, follow up activities with the participants by project implementers were found to be inadequate. On the basis of these findings the study propose stronger cooperation among project implementers who provide non formal education, and conduct follow up activities with participants after the programs are completed. This is to enable people adequate time to assimilate knowledge and change their behavior accordingly
