These plants emit pollutants to the environment. This study concentrates on developing a set of environmental policies a nd guide lines which a r e low cost but able to alleviate the most serious impacts created by these power plants . An eclectic methodology was used to quantify, to the extent possible , effects of these plants on the air, water a nd the noise it creates. The results show that these plants can be hazardous to the environment if no measures are taken. The guidelines developed con cent rate on the plant management level and were integrated into the job descriptions of the affected plant personnel.
