The cricket statistics data base was chosen because of the complexity of queries involved. The relational model has been implemented using IBM's Query- By-Example data base management system and has successfully answered the objective of the study. This system offers inter-active facilities to create, modify and delete the data base. The hierarchical model has used IBM's Information Management System for defining, and creating the hierarchical data base. This system offers a batch programming environment, unlike the relational system.
