To alleviate this problem, many users have turned to bus based network as a way of minimize the number of hard-wired point-to-point links. The aim of this special study is to discuss and evaluate different network protocols for manufacturing application, which are called fieldbus. The discuss on consists of description of fieldbus technology, mechanism, and classifications for manufacturing application. After the discussion about several protocols for communication in manufacturing application, we develop a methodology to connect automation devices like PLCs using the fieldbus standard called Profibus.
