At present, the electric power supply in Cambodia is a problem because of the high price of energy and the lack of power stations, hydroelectric and thermal power plants of sufficient capacity to respond to rapidly increasing demand. In addition, Cambodia has no transmission lines connected between the regions. Among these, Bantey Mean Chey, Siem Reap and Battambang provinces are three of the more important provinces, where economic activity is developing swiftly. However, in order to address the shortage of power supply, the new resource of power supply is the first priority to be considered by connecting transmission line from the neighbor countries. This transmission line must be capable satisfying demand in the local area and transferring excess supply to other regions throughout the country by an interconnection system
