TextSeries: Asian Institute of Technology. Thesis ; no. ST-85-20Publication details: Bangkok : Asian Institute of Technology, 1984Description: 130 pSubject(s): Online resources: Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1985 Summary: A cicrocomputer package, called mPOSLAB, is developed on an IBM Personal Computer for analysis and design of post-tensioned flat slabs. Covering slabs with drop panels and capitals, it is suitable for design office use. The package follows the procedures given in the ACI Building Code (318-1983). An IBM Personal Computer with at least 128 K-bytes main memory capacity is needed to run this package. Advanced BASIC is used as the programming language which works under Disk Operating System (DOS) of version 3.00. The package is also compiled using IBM BASIC compiler. The slab is analysed considering the transfer, service and ultimate condition. The direct stiffness method is employed for the analysis of the equivalent frame system which replace the actual slabs and columns. To increase the efficiency of the analysis, transfer matrix technique is adopted. Elastic stress, ultimate flexural and shear strength are checked for every critical section at the column faces and midspans. Loss of prestress, deflection and detailing of the slab are also condisered. An illustrative example and the user manual are given to enable the user to be familiar with the package, and to demonstrate the effectiveness of the package, and to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed package. The proposed package is found to be easy to use, flexible, fast and accurate for analysis and design of post-tensioned flat slabs.
