Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1995 Summary: There are several computer softwares developed for construction management such as P3, dBASE and AutoCAD. The problem is that none of these softwares can integrate data and graphics together. A much more comprehensive tool such as GIS may bring an efficient procedure to solve such a problem. GIS uses the computerized techniques to input, store, retrieve, analyse and display spatial and attribute data, thereby facilitating in visualization . Graphics visualization provides an integrated common interpretation tool for the owner, designer, and constructor of a construction work. The AutoCAD drawings and P3 graphics were successfully transferred into GIS maps. The GIS maps are then used to present the construction management information. After minor modifications, the GIS maps can then be used for graphics visualization and statistical computation in construction management. This has been achieved in this thesis. A case study of a single floor basement is undertaken in this study. The procedure and some initial results are presented and discussed.
