By: Call Number: AIT Thesis no.CA-82-9 Contributor(s): Material type: SeriesSeries: Asian Institute of Technology. Thesis ; no. CA-82-9Publication details: Bangkok : Asian Institute of Technology, 1982Description: iii, 59 pSubject(s): Online resources: Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1982 Summary: The increasing demand for the storage, analysis, and display of large quantities of environmental and other data in South-East Asia has led to the development of this system. In order to facilitate rational utilization, planning and management of these data, a sophisticated information system, combining data base management and graphics, is required. The present system is to handle the graphics. The data acquisition and manipulation have become the responsibilities of another student, Suphamit Chittayasothorn. The two systems have been developed separately, in order to keep the graphics system independent of any information system. As long as a data bank contains environmental or other data and can be transformed to the file structures required, the graphics of this system will operate. Although the present study makes no attempt to cover all the environmental and other information systems that exist in different parts of the world, it is hoped that the basic principles of computer-aided data handling techniques will be brought out.
