TextSeries: Asian Institute of Technology. Thesis ; no. TC-92-5Publication details: Bangkok : Asian Institute of Technology, 1992Description: 92 leavesSubject(s): Online resources: Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology,1992 Summary: This study presents arr investigation into the performance of Code-Division Multiple~ Access (CDMA) for application in an indoor radio Local Area Network (LAN). Two LAN topologies, star and distributed, were investigated with a detailed consideration of the effect of power control on the performance. A new mathematical model for analysing CDMA in a fading indoor radio channel is presented. This analysis was used with actual measurement data for different categories of indoor channel to obtain Bit Error Rates (BER) as a function of system parameters. In addition to analysis, a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) simulation was implemented and results obtained were found to agree well with the analysis. Finally, an investigation into selection diversity as a means of enhancing the CDMA performance in an indoor fading radio channel was carried out. It is shown that selection diversity significantly enhances the system performance.
